Obverse: Sooliman Ernest Rogers, known as S.E. Rogie, was a renowned Sierra Leonean musician celebrated for his contributions to highlife and palm wine music. Born in 1926 in Fonikoh, Pujehun District, he initially worked as a tailor before transitioning to a successful music career in the 1960s. He gained popularity with hits like Koneh Pehlawo, Go Easy with Me, and My Lovely Elizabeth, and later formed the band The Morningstars in 1965. Rogie moved to the United States in 1973, where he performed extensively and received honors from the U.S. Congress and various cities. In 1988, he relocated to England and continued making music, releasing his final and widely acclaimed album, Dead Men Don't Smoke Marijuana, in 1994. His music remains influential, cementing his legacy in the nation’s cultural history.
