100 Escudos of Portugal 1981 CuNi UNC - The International Year of Disabled Persons

The International Year of Disabled Persons, proclaimed by the UN in 1981, aimed to raise global awareness about the rights of disabled people and promote their integration into society. The main theme, "Full Participation and Equality", encouraged equal opportunities and access to education, employment, and services. This initiative paved the way for concrete actions to improve the lives of disabled individuals and was followed by the United Nations Decade of Disabled Persons (1983-1992), which continued and reinforced these efforts.
