Central Africa is a region of Africa comprising the South of the Sahara, the East of the West African Shield and the West of the Great Rift Valley. According to the UN definition, Central Africa includes the following countries: Angola, Cameroon, Gabon, Equitorial Guinea, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, Republic of Congo, Sao Tome-et-Principe and Chad.
The CFA franc of the EMCCA (Economic and Monetary Cooperation in Central Africa) has been, since its creation in 1958, the official common currency of the six member states of the Central African Economic and Monetary Community (Cameroon, Gabon, Equitorial Guinea, Central African Republic, Republic of Congo, Chad). It is divided into one hudred cents.
