The front represents a guanaco is a wild camelid from South America, living mainly in the Andes and the steppes of Patagonia, notably in Argentina, Chile, Peru, Bolivia and Paraguay. Measuring approximately 1 to 1.2 meters at the shoulder and weighing up to 140 kilograms, it has a light brown and white coat. Adapted to high altitudes, the guanaco is herbivorous and can survive for a long time without water. Living in herds with a dominant male, it communicates by vocalizations and postures. Although not endangered according to the IUCN, its population has declined due to hunting and habitat loss. Guanaco wool, prized for its softness, has economic and cultural importance to the indigenous peoples of the Andes. Agile, it can run up to 56 km/h to escape predators.
The reverse shows the natural environment of Patagonia.
