Nepal, in long form the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, is a landlocked country in South Asia, bordered by China (Tibet Autonomous Region) to the north and by India on the rest of its borders. In terms of area, the majority of the country lies in the Himalayas, but part extends across the Indo-Gangetic plain. To the east, the country is separated from Bangladesh by the Siliguri Corridor and from Bhutan by the State of Sikkim (India).

The Nepalese rupee (in Nepali रूपैयाँ) is the official currency of Nepal. The issuance of currency is controlled by the Nepal Rastra Bank. The symbol for the Nepalese rupee is Rs, ₨ or more frequently Rps.
