The front depicts the portrait of Aníbal Pinto Garmendia (1825-1884) was a prominent Chilean politician and lawyer, president of Chile from 1876 to 1881. His presidency took place during a period marked by serious economic challenges, including a depression due to to the collapse of the nitrate trade, as well as by the Pacific War (1879-1884) against Peru and Bolivia, motivated by the dispute for control of the nitrate resources of the Atacama. Despite these difficulties, his administration managed to initiate important reforms in public administration and finance. Retiring from public life after his term, Pinto died in Valparaíso in 1884, leaving a legacy of leadership and resilience during a critical period in Chilean history.
