Green grasshoppers are identifiable by their long, slender antennae, which can be up to three times the length of their bodies, distinguishing them from locusts, which always have short, articulated antennae. Males typically measure between 2.8 cm and 3.6 cm in length, while females range from 3.2 cm to 4.2 cm. Females are equipped with a tarsi, or ovipositor, measuring from 2.3 cm to 3.2 cm, earning them the nickname "sword grasshoppers". These insects are predominantly green, with a reddish band on the upper body and along the upper fringe of the elytra. Both larvae and adults display similar coloring, with a fine brown longitudinal line on the backs of adults. Wings develop from the larval stage, and the ovipositor becomes visible in the fifth stage.
