The Tantal ibis (Mycteria ibis) is a large African wading bird belonging to the Ciconiidae family, primarily found south of the Sahara and on Madagascar. Measuring between 97 and 105 cm, it is distinguished by its white plumage, black wings visible in flight, and its bare pinkish head and neck. This bird inhabits wetland areas such as marshes, rivers, and lakes, where it primarily feeds on fish, amphibians, and aquatic insects, using its long, curved beak to catch prey. The Tantal ibis nests in colonies in trees near water, with both parents participating in nest building and raising the young. Although it is not currently threatened, it may be affected by the degradation of its natural habitat.
