The front depicts the portrait of Captain Pattimura, born Thomas Matulessy on June 8, 1783 in Saparua, Maluku, is an Indonesian national hero famous for his resistance against Dutch colonization. Leader of the Pattimura Rebellion in 1817, he led a courageous fight against the forces of the Dutch East India Company (VOC). Despite his initial successes, he was captured and executed on December 16, 1817. His courage and commitment to freedom continue to be celebrated in Indonesia.
The reverse side shows the Maitara and Tidore Islands, located in the Moluccas archipelago of Indonesia, are known for their spectacular volcanic landscapes and rich history.
