The front depicts the portrait of Ruhollah Mousavi Khomeini (1902-1989) was an Iranian religious leader who led the Iranian Revolution of 1979, overthrowing Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi and establishing the Islamic Republic of Iran, a theocracy based on Islamic principles . A vocal critic of the Shah's regime and exiled for more than 14 years, Khomeini returned to Iran in 1979 to take power as Supreme Leader.
The reverse side shows the The Kaaba is the holiest site in Islam, located in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.
