The front depicts Mangyongdae is a historically significant place in North Korea. It is the birthplace of Kim Il-sung, the founding leader of North Korea, and has great symbolic importance in North Korean ideology. The region includes the Mangyongdae Revolutionary Site, which features Kim Il-sung's childhood home, preserved to commemorate his life and revolutionary activities.
The reverse side shows Lake Samji (Korean: 삼지) is a lake in North Korea, famous for its tourist appeal and historical significance. Between 1937 and 1939, the Japanese built the 120-kilometer Hyesan-Musan Guard Road about a hundred meters from the lake. Near this site, the Battle of Musan, a pivotal event in the Korean Revolution, took place in May 1939. Samji is designated as a revolutionary battle site, with the Samji Lake Grand Monument erected in honor of Kim Il Sung , symbolizing the revolutionary spirit of the region.
