Learn more: The Church of St. Andrew the First-Called was built in 1997 on the site of a former regiment, near the former Trinity Church of the 56th Zhitomir Infantry Regiment, which was destroyed in the 1930s. The previous regimental church, constructed in Tiraspol in 1903, had been closed during the Soviet era, and its remains were demolished after the war to make way for a sports ground. In the 1990s, the idea of rebuilding the church emerged, and the current church was constructed on the territory of a military camp of the OGRT in Transnistria, funded by the OGRT soldiers, who now make up the majority of its parishioners.
