Obverse: Nikola Tesla (1856–1943) was a Serbian-American inventor and engineer, famous for his contributions to science and technology, particularly in the field of electricity. He developed the alternating current (AC) system, now used worldwide for power distribution, and famously fought against Thomas Edison in the "War of the Currents." Among his many inventions, the Tesla coil and his advances in wireless transmission and radio have made history. A visionary, he dreamed of technologies such as wireless power and global communications. Although his career declined and he died in poverty, his influence and scientific legacy are widely recognized today.
