The Pont Colbert in Dieppe, inaugurated in 1889, is a cast-iron swing bridge, listed as a historic monument in 2017 and classified in 2020. It is part of a larger project that emerged in the 1880s as part of the Freycinet Plan, a policy aimed at improving France's port and transportation infrastructure. Dieppe's port, a priority site, was expanded with the creation of a new 40-meter-wide channel, which divided the historic Pollet district. This prompted the construction of the bridge to reconnect the two banks. The swing bridge, the last of its kind in Europe to function in its original configuration, remains a symbol of 19th-century engineering and the vital role of the port in Dieppe's economic development.
