CURRENCY: Denar (MKD), the currency of North Macedonia is the denar (MKD). The denar is divided into 100 deni. Prior to 1993, when the country was part of the former Yugoslavia, its currency was the Yugoslav dinar. However, after the independence of North Macedonia, the denar was introduced as the national currency on April 26, 1992. Since then, the denar has been used as the legal tender in the country.
