Armenia, situated in the Caucasus region, is a mountainous country with Yerevan as its capital. Predominantly populated by ethnic Armenians, it boasts an ancient and rich history marked by periods of prosperity and foreign invasions.
Before the Soviet Union, Armenia existed as an independent civilization. Integrated into the USSR in 1920, it regained independence in 1991. Since then, the country has faced economic and territorial challenges, notably the conflict with Azerbaijan over Nagorno-Karabakh.
The currency used is the Armenian dram, and Armenia has sought to strengthen ties with the European Union while maintaining close relations with Russia. Proud of its cultural identity, Armenia has a vast diaspora across the globe.
