The introduction of the dram in Armenia in 1993 marked the country's transition to an independent national currency after the collapse of the Soviet Union. Facing economic challenges such as high inflation and monetary instability, the dram replaced the Soviet ruble, allowing Armenia to take control of its monetary policy and gradually stabilize its economy. Since then, the dram has become the country's official currency, contributing to strengthening its economic independence.
