Sculptor Pertti Mäkinen, who designed the coin, has portrayed two faces on the reverse side, one belonging to a man and the other to a woman. Mäkinen says that he placed both faces to an equal distance from the center of the coin. The obverse side is intersected by a double line depicting the ballot box gap. Two large ballot papers and hands in silhouette picture the voting process.
