Arvo Ylppö (1887-1992) was a teacher of paediatricians, a groundbreaking scientist and teh creator of Finland's system of child care clinics. He was a charismatic and well-liked paediatrician himself. On the obverse side of the coin is a stethoscope in the middle and a child sleeping inside it.
On the reverse side is a Children's Castle, a childrens hospital in Helsinki, and its facade with a decorative surface made up of children’s names. The multicolor initials of the names, form the word KIITOS, which means thank you in Finnish.
