Reinterpretation of the historical Louis d'Or, this exceptional currency takes inspiration from the Gold coin introduced under Louis XIII to compete with already-circulating Spanish Gold coins. Engraved by Jean Warin, the profile of King Louis XIII is derived from a 10 Louis coin currently held in the collections of the Monnaie de Paris. On the left side of the portrait, one can find the monograms of Louis XIII along with the heraldic symbols of royalty. The letter A corresponds to the mint where the original coin, which served as inspiration for this creation, was struck (A=Paris).
