The Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris, located on the Île de la Cité, is a masterpiece of French Gothic architecture, built between the 12th and 14th centuries. It has witnessed numerous historical events, including the coronation of Napoleon Bonaparte. Popularized by Victor Hugo's novel Notre-Dame de Paris in 1831, it underwent a major restoration in the 19th century led by Viollet-le-Duc. On April 15, 2019, a fire severely damaged the roof and spire, sparking international efforts for its restoration.
