The Lighthouse of Alexandria, also known as the Pharos Lighthouse, was one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Located on the island of Pharos at the entrance of the port of Alexandria in Egypt, it was an imposing structure standing approximately 100 meters (330 feet) tall. The lighthouse served as a guiding light for ships entering the port and was an engineering marvel of antiquity. Unfortunately, it was damaged by earthquakes over the centuries and ultimately destroyed in 1480 when its stones were used to construct the Qaitbay Citadel on its site. While the lighthouse no longer exists, it remains an iconic symbol of antiquity.
