Miragaia is an extinct genus of stegosaurian dinosaur that lived approximately 150 million years ago during the Late Jurassic. Discovered near the town of Miragaia in Portugal, it is one of the best-preserved stegosaurs in Europe. Measuring around 5 meters in length, Miragaia is characterized by its bony plates along its back and spikes at the tip of its tail. Unlike other stegosaurs, its dorsal plates were arranged relatively straight, and it had an unusually high number of plates. The discovery of Miragaia has expanded our understanding of stegosaur diversity in Europe, filling gaps in knowledge about these dinosaurs in different regions of the world.
