The Blockhaus Hospital in Les Sables-d'Olonne, built by the German army during World War II, was preserved and transformed into a museum in 2017. This military monument, equipped with operating rooms and advanced medical systems, cared for lightly wounded individuals from combat zones. Heavily utilized during the war, especially for treating injured sailors, it was abandoned by retreating German troops at the conflict's end. Today, as a museum, it preserves the memory of local fighters and the French Forces of the Interior, serving as a unique testimony to that historical period.
