Ernst Litfass, born on February 11, 1816, in Berlin, was a German newspaper publisher and advertiser. He is best known for inventing cylindrical advertising columns, first introduced in Berlin in 1855 to combat the issue of flyposting. These columns provided designated spaces for advertisements, minimizing clutter. Litfass's concept was widely adopted in other cities, creating a lasting legacy. He passed away on December 27, 1874.
