Hassiba Ben Bouali was a prominent figure in the struggle for Algeria's independence from French colonial rule. Born on January 11, 1938, in Algiers, she joined the National Liberation Front (FLN) and actively engaged in resistance efforts against the French occupation. Her bravery led her to participate in clandestine operations. Sadly, at the age of 19, on March 8, 1957, she was killed during a shootout with French security forces in the Casbah of Algiers. Her death became a symbol of Algeria's fight for independence, and she continues to be honored as a testament to the courage and determination of Algerians who fought for their freedom.
