Coucy-le-Château-Auffrique is a historic commune located in the Aisne department in the Hauts-de-France region of northern France. It is famous for its impressive Château de Coucy, a medieval fortress from the 13th century that was once one of the largest medieval castles in France. Unfortunately, a part of the castle was destroyed during World War I, leaving behind ruins that are open to the public. Apart from its historical heritage, Coucy-le-Château is a picturesque town with charming architecture, cobbled streets, and a pleasant setting. It attracts visitors interested in medieval history and picturesque French towns.
