The Opéra Garnier, also known as the Paris Opera or the Palais Garnier, is a world-famous opera house located in the 9th arrondissement of Paris, France. Designed by architect Charles Garnier, it was inaugurated in 1875. The building is renowned for its sumptuous neo-baroque architecture, featuring a façade adorned with statues and elaborate artistic details. It houses a grand auditorium, the famous Marc Chagall-painted ceiling, the grand staircase, the grand foyer, the Opera Library-Museum, and other magnificent spaces. The Opéra Garnier is part of the Opéra National de Paris, alongside the Opéra Bastille. In addition to opera and ballet performances, it offers guided tours for visitors. The opera has also been the inspiration for Gaston Leroux's novel "The Phantom of the Opera." It remains an iconic cultural symbol of the city of Paris.
