The Garabit Viaduct is a railway bridge located in Cantal, France, designed by engineer Gustave Eiffel between 1882 and 1884. It is constructed of puddled iron, has a length of 565 meters, and rises to a height of 122 meters above the Truyère River. The viaduct was built for the railway line connecting Marvejols to Neussargues, significantly improving railway transportation in the mountainous region. It has become an iconic symbol of French engineering and has been classified as a historical monument since 1976. Visitors can admire its architectural beauty and enjoy the spectacular view of the Truyère Gorges. While it is still in use for railway transport, modern bridges have been constructed nearby for high-speed trains. The Garabit Viaduct remains a popular tourist site and a testament to 19th-century engineering in France.
