Coucy-le-Château-Auffrique, commonly known as Coucy-le-Château, is a municipality located in the Aisne department, in France. The main attraction of the municipality is its medieval castle, which was one of the largest in Europe during the Middle Ages. The "Porte de Soissons" is one of the entrance gates to the castle, designed for defense and access to the fortress. The castle was built in the 13th century and belonged to the powerful Coucy family. Much of the castle has been destroyed over time, especially during World War I. The castle's ruins are now an impressive historical site visited by enthusiasts of medieval architecture and history.
