Galo Plaza was an Ecuadorian politician who served as the President of Ecuador from 1948 to 1952. He was born on February 17, 1906, and died on January 28, 1987. Plaza was a member of the Ecuadorian Conservative Party and held various governmental positions throughout his career, including Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Government. As president, he implemented several progressive reforms, including the modernization of Ecuador's infrastructure and the expansion of social welfare programs. Plaza also played a key role in establishing the Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization (ACTO) to promote sustainable development in the Amazon region.
