Jaime Roldós Aguilera was an Ecuadorian politician who served as the President of Ecuador from 1979 until his death in a plane crash in 1981. He was known for his efforts to promote social justice and human rights in Ecuador, as well as for his advocacy for national sovereignty and independence. Roldós was the first democratically elected president after a period of military rule in Ecuador. His presidency was marked by his commitment to social and economic reforms, although his time in office was cut short tragically when he died in a plane crash along with his wife and several government officials. Roldós is remembered as a champion of democracy and social justice in Ecuador.
