SMS Erzherzog Ferdinand Max was an Austro-Hungarian Tegetthoff-class dreadnought battleship that was part of the Austro-Hungarian Navy during World War I. The ship was named after Archduke Ferdinand Maximilian of Austria, who was a member of the Imperial Habsburg family.
The Erzherzog Ferdinand Max was one of the most powerful battleships in the Austro-Hungarian fleet. It participated in various operations in the Adriatic Sea during the war. However, it didn't see much action and spent most of its time patrolling and protecting the coast due to the cautious strategies employed by the Austro-Hungarian Navy.
After the war, as part of the Treaty of Saint-Germain-en-Laye, Austria-Hungary was required to hand over most of its navy to the victorious Allied powers. The Erzherzog Ferdinand Max was ceded to Italy as war reparation and was eventually scrapped in the early 1920s.
