The Saint-Bénézet Bridge, commonly known as the Pont d'Avignon, is an ancient bridge located in Avignon, France. Built in the 12th century, it was relatively narrow and was never used for commercial transportation. It was repeatedly damaged by floods and wars, leading to partial reconstructions. Currently, only four arches of the bridge remain, following collapses in the 17th century. The bridge is famous for a traditional song, "Sur le Pont d'Avignon," which tells of the dances that took place on the bridge during its heyday.
