The Imperial Eagle (Aquila heliaca), a raptor belonging to the Accipitridae family, is classified as a vulnerable species in much of its range. Often confused with the Iberian eagle, it measures 68 to 87 cm in length, with a wingspan of 2 meters and a weight of 4 kg. While relatively small for the Aquila genus, it is distinguished by its predominantly black-brown plumage, a distinctive cream-yellow nape, white shoulders, a broad head with an imposing beak, and legs broadly covered with feathers. It reaches its adult plumage around its fifth year. During migration, the imperial eagle employs an efficient flying technique, soaring for hours by harnessing thermal currents to conserve energy.
